The 2009 AHAME
Autumnfest show was a real success in these unstable
times. Judge Richard Boule was a breath of fresh air and
a real hit with the exhibitors. Horses from throughout
the Northeast attended the 2 day Open Breed show held in
Skowhegan, ME. The offering of many classes for all
disciplines attracted horses of all breeds and types.
Weather is always a consideration, but the rain held off
until the show was completed. One hundred horses
competed over the two days in over 100 classes.
One particularly touching moment was when the ladies
Open Pleasure class was held. This class was designated
as the Pink Ribbon Class and a total of 22 exhibitors
were entered and the entire proceeds of this class
$330.00 were donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Research
Institute. Some of the participants were friends and
relatives of cancer survivors or victims. This class
will become a fixture of horse shows held in the future.
Some of the highlights were the Versatility Awards won
by Robin Lovejoy and Pat McAllister. Robin donated the
$100.00 prize back to the Arabian Horse Association of
Maine to help pay for AHAME Year End Trophies. The First
Annual Autumfest Maine Tater Toss involved approximately
50 people tossing Maine russet potatoes into a target in
center ring. The winners received a twenty dollar award
in the adult and youth divisions.
We want to thank all of the volunteers .Linda Misco, Pat
Le Clerc, Brenda Carver, Lynn Marie Bailey, Lee Cheever,
Jess Small, Laurie Emery and Meg Hall. Withouut these
volunteers the AHAME Horse Shows would not be possible.
Plans are already under way for the AHAME Spring Classic
and AHAME Autumnfest horse shows in 2010. Please visit
